On Saturday, James McKean claimed the L.U.S.T Salty Oyster East Coast Surf Challenge, which was held at Tama ‘o’ Shanter Bay, Weymouth. After scoring a long left hand ride in the final, posting a score of 6.5 out of 10 he sealed the victory to beat current points leader Cameron Whitten.

“It was a pretty close final, I chose to sit down the point a little closer to the shore as the waves seemed peaking a little better down the line. Cam didn’t seem to link it together on his first wave, which he caught out the back, so I paddled just decided to sit on the inside” Said James.

“It was really good surf out there and I just couldn’t land a couple of tricks which isn’t a good thing to do in a final. James surfed well all day and I’m stoked to have come second. I think it was a really well run event and I look forward to the next event – The Mappa Tassie Tour, held at the end of October” said Cam Whitten.

Andy Hartley, President of L.U.S.T took out 3rd place with Oliver Thoralley taking out 4th place.

The results are as follows:

The Results:
James McKean 1st Place
Cameron Whiiten 2nd Place
Andy Hartley 3rd Place
